Concrete Floor Polishing
Polished Concrete Flooring
Mechanically polished concrete flooring has gained popularity over the years due to its sophisticated appearance, durability and low maintenance requirements.
Over time, your existing concrete floor can become worn and damaged resulting in a rough surface particularly in high traffic areas.
If your concrete floor has become an unsafe tripping hazard or is not level, has cracks or scratches, or just lacks lustre, we can mechanically polish the concrete to create a consistent finish in either matt, satin or full gloss.
We use quality German-made machinery to continuously buff the concrete floor and bring out the shine. No sealant products are used in this method, just good old-fashioned elbow grease, and know-how!
For Commercial Flooring we have many excellent options to handle high foot traffic and heavy machinery.
The Benefits of A Polished Concrete Floor
Not only do polished concrete floors enhance the aesthetics of concrete surfaces with spectacular reflections of light, but they’re also good for your health as they reduce the potential for allergens including dust mites.
Polished concrete floors are:
- Low maintenance
- Easy to clean
- Durable
- Long lasting
- Reflects light
- Non-absorptive
- Chemical and oil resistant
- Hypo-Allergenic
- Stain and scratch resistant
What’s the Difference Between Polished Concrete and Grind and Seal?
These are two different services that are often spoken about interchangeably however they are like comparing apples and oranges with some important key differences.
Polished Concrete
A polished concrete floor is achieved by the use of a heavy-duty machine to grind and buff the concrete surface into the desired finish- matt, satin or full gloss. The process of buffing is repeated many times in order to get the right level of shine. No sealant is used to achieve the polished concrete.
This method of polishing delivers top quality but is labour intensive and highly durable, therefore comes with a higher price tag.
Grind and Seal
The grind and seal is done in two parts, incorporating a diamond concrete grinding process to clean and prep the surface and reveal the exposed rock beneath. We then grout the floor to fill any cracks or holes and overlay a sealant to create the desired level of shine.
This is the less labour intensive of the two services and the process needs to be repeated every five years or so, making it the cheaper option of the two.
How Much Does Polished concrete Cost?
The price of polished concrete varies depending on a number of factors including the square metre size of the area, the requested finish, the state of the concrete to be polished and other factors like who is providing the quote.
Not all concrete polishing companies are the same. The quality of machinery used can vary vastly. Some companies are less experienced or may cut corners. When comparing quotes, make sure you’re comparing like for like, rather than asking for a price on polished concrete and being quoted on a grind and seal, as these services are not the same and come with different price tags and finishes.

How Long Does It Take for Concrete Polishing?
The length of time it takes to complete concrete polishing depends on a number of factors including the size of the area to be polished, the quality of the concrete slab, the finish required and any obstacles or stairs.
The project may take around 2-3 days or more, depending on what’s involved in the scope of the job.
Once the buffing has been completed and the floor is polished, it can be walked on straight away as there is no sealant that needs to dry.
